restored from 23/02/2020After a quick coffee break it’s time to head out to Berrycroft Hubs kitchen garden area with workshop tutor Susan Rogers. Growing your own food is an important part of self sufficiency so knowing about your soils, drainage, composting, seed selection etc is vital.
Lots of questions being asked & great discussion between everyone as there is a real mix of experience within today’s group.

restored from 22/02/2020We really have had some great copper casting going on at Berrycroft Hub with our tutor Dr. James Dilley.
James is an extremely talented replica maker & has bought an awesome display of his replica axes with him today. There has been much axe based admiration! restored from 16/02/2020Wow! Two gorgeous replica Iron Age swords forged today with Tom Beynon. Great day all round & the smiles say it all really!!
restored from 14/02/2020It’s a beautiful sunny morning here at Berrycroft Hub & we have the wonderful Caroline Nicolay with us today.
Caroline is a archaeologist specialising in our culinary past & this workshop is all about what the Tudors ate, how they prepared & cooked it. We’re looking forward to a day of delicious treats!! restored from 09/02/2020These chaps really have been through hell & high water today but it was worth it - 3 beautifully cast Bronze Age swords ready to finish off & then take home!
restored from 08/02/2020We had a great bronze axe workshop today with our brilliant experimental archaeologist Ancient Craft - James Dilley tutoring. Everyone cast their axes beautifully first time. They had all made perfect moulds & poured the molten metal really confidently.
restored from 02/02/2020We’ve had a fantastically busy prehistoric textiles workshop today with experimental archaeologists Sally Pointer and Gareth Riseborough.
Everyone has left happy with the things they have made & with the knowledge to be able to continue with their projects at home. The mugs are washed up, the classrooms swept & the gate is now closed. It’s all gone very quiet at Berrycroft Hub... ...until tomorrow! restored from 02/02/2020It’s all going on at Berrycroft Hub right now on the prehistoric textiles workshop with Sally Pointer and Gareth Riseborough.
We’ve split everyone into 3 groups - 1 group are having a go at sprang, some are making antler needles & cordage whilst the rest are net making... restored from 26/01/2020We’ve had a great group on the birch bark container workshop with experimental archaeologist Dr. James Dilley today.
They listened, learnt & crafted some fantastic Ötzi inspired containers to take home & should be rightly proud of themselves! Much tea, coffee & cake was consumed in the warm classroom whilst outside it was continuous grey skies & pouring with rain. Several people had travelled a fair few hours to get to us & we wish everyone a safe journey home in what will probably be awful motorway conditions! restored from 21/01/2020We haven’t got snow at Berrycroft Hub, but we have got snowdrops turning our woodland floor white - another sign that spring is just around the corner!
