If you have ever wanted to put on a truly ‘traditional’ Christmas, then this is the course for you. Food is often the centre of anyone’s Christmas gathering and now you can learn how to amaze and impress your friends and family with a range of historical recipes.

You will spend the day hearing about how many of our Christmas traditions came about, and what was eaten over the Christmas period from Medieval times to the present. You will also get the chance to try your hand at making and tasting a series of delicious recipes, such as medieval spiced wines, goose stuffing, mince pies and some mouth watering gingerbread.

Food historian Nick Trustram Eve will lead this day of exploring and making in order to help you put on the perfect traditional Christmas. You do not need any substantial skills as none of the cooking is overly complicated!

Please bring an apron as none can be provided on the day. You might also want to bring an airtight food storage box for any goodies left over at the end of the day.

Recipes will be provided during the day for you to take away, but you might want to bring a notebook to add any extra details.

Accommodation is not included but if required it is available within the local area, some suggestions can be found on our 'local accommodation' page - please arrange this yourself

Refreshments are provided on the day but not lunches.

Toilet and classroom all easily accessible from the car park

*Please bring a packed lunch, own drinking vessel & face mask if you would like to wear one*

Attendees must be over 16.
