Goldworking: Sun Discs & Basket Ornaments - 6th December 2020
At the start of the Bronze Age, a new material rapidly became desirable for prestige ornaments. Today, prehistoric gold graces the displays of many museums, but how was it worked?
In our unique hands on experience, you will assemble your own goldworkers toolkit of hammer-stone, anvil, graver and burnisher, then work a gram of pure 24ct gold into a sun disc or basket ornament inspired by gold from the age of Stonehenge. You will take home your toolkit and your gold creations.
This workshop is led by experimental archaeologists and historical crafts people Sally Pointer and Gareth Riseborough.
