Prehistoric Textiles, Cordage, Needles & the Earliest Nalbinding
Get to grips with the earliest forms of loop manipulated textiles and explore their place within prehistoric textiles. Start by perfecting your cordage skills in flax, hemp and lime bast, then carve your own antler needle using flint tools before learning simple looping, looping around a core (Tybrind Vig stitch) and twisted loop stitch, all early forms of nalbinding well suited to cord-as-you-go projects in plant fibres.
All materials supplied.
This workshop is led by historical crafts person, heritage educator and archeaologist, Sally Pointer.
