restored from 09/12/2019We use and rely on textiles all the time in the modern world, and its produced rapidly on an industrial scale. But how did people make textiles in the distant past?
Explore the techniques and forms of early textiles as you learn to make fine cordage from flax, hemp and nettle fibers on our prehistoric textiles workshop with Sally Pointer. You'll carve an antler needle to use with your cordage to try braiding, netmaking and sprang. There will be time to try each skill before deciding which to focus on to make a belt or small bag.

restored from 09/12/2019In the early Bronze Age, a dagger was a true sign of status & power. Images of daggers can be seen on megaliths around Europe including one of the upright sarsen stones at Stonehenge.
We are running a workshop with experimental archaeologist Dr. James Dilley to cast your own dagger blade in February 2020. (Which is now fully booked, BUT keep an eye on our website for more dates folks!) restored from 08/12/2019Today was experimental archaeologist, Stone Age & Bronze Age specialist Dr. James Dilley’s last workshop with us for this year. We look forward to welcoming him back for his bone & antler carving on 19th January 2020.
In the meantime we think he definitely deserves a suitably labelled beer! restored from 09/12/2019We had a lovely trio bronze casting today with experimental archaeologist Dr. James Dilley.

It’s a beautiful part of the countryside but resources are limited, particularly for some members of our community compared to those living in urban areas.
We are passionate about being a positive part our local community & sometimes it makes a big difference to have a day where people can just gather to chat, enjoy a cuppa & try their hand at something they wouldn’t normally do. We are extremely grateful to our incredibly awesome tutors who donate their precious time to help us run our nonprofit community workshops & make these wonderful days possible. restored from 06/12/2019Berrycroft Hub is based in Ashbury village by the ancient Ridgeway up on the chalk hills in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s a stunning landscape if you are visiting the area for one of our workshops & at this time of the year it’s always slightly cooler up here so wrap up warm if you fancy going for a walk!
