A unique opportunity to learn how to record and identify bees and hoverflies with top expert Steven Falk (author of the Field Guide to Bees of Great Britain and Ireland and co-author of British Hoverflies - an illustrated identification guide). Steven will show you how to identify, record and (where necessary) collect these important pollinators and explain their ecology and conservation requirements. Microscopes and specimens will be provided and there will also be local excursions to see living bees and hoverflies in a variety of habitats (on the beautiful Oxfordshire Downs near the famous White Horse). The course can cater for those who would rather concentrate on just bees or just hoverflies. You will need an insect net and relevant ID guides (these can be purchased on the day). Bring your own microscope if you have one. Steven will also be selling his limited edition natural history artwork at very special rates!
